Version 2.2.3 reached the stable channel on October 19, 2026, the same day as 2.2.2. It is a small release aimed at one moment: the first few minutes after you install OrcStrator, when you create an account and sign in for the first time. The rest of the app is described on how OrcStrator works.

Why sign-up matters here

OrcStrator asks you to create an OrcStrator account on first run. A full-screen page offers “Sign in” or “Create account”, and you confirm your email. The account runs your plan and your updates; it is separate from your Claude login, which you connect afterwards. Only your email, a scrambled computer id and your plan leave your computer. Your chats and work stay on it.

That makes sign-up the first thing every new user touches, and the place where a small snag costs the most.

What is new

A strong password, made for you. When you create an account, OrcStrator can now generate a strong password, with a button to copy it. You no longer have to invent one on the spot.

What works better

Your browser offers to save the password. When you sign up or sign in, your browser now offers to save the password, the same way it does on a website. Combined with the generated password, that means you never have to type or remember it.

What was fixed

Updates arrive straight away. Before 2.2.3, a fresh install could say it was already up to date after your first sign-in, even when a newer version was out. Now OrcStrator updates to the newest version as soon as you sign in for the first time, so a new user starts on the current app instead of the one in the installer.

Who will notice

New users, mostly. If you already had an account, 2.2.3 changes nothing you will see day to day. If you are installing OrcStrator now, the first run is shorter: one generated password, saved by your browser, and an app that brings itself up to date before you write your first card.

The next production release, 2.2.4, made every chat a card. All releases are on OrcStrator news.
