Version 2.2.5 reached the stable channel on November 1, 2026. It is a release about not losing things: your setup, your limit, and the runs your routines depend on. If you are new to the app, how OrcStrator works covers the board, chats and routines this entry refers to.

What is new

Backup and Restore. Settings now has a Backup and Restore section. It writes one password-protected file with your chats, your board and your settings, and it reads that file back on another computer or after a reinstall. Logins are never included, so the file does not carry your Claude sign-in or your OrcStrator password.

Approve everything has four safety levels. When you would rather not answer every permission question, Approve everything answers them for you. It now has four levels, “1 Safe”, “2 Builder”, “3 Ship it” and “4 Everything”, with “3 Ship it” marked as the recommended one. A log records everything it approved on your behalf, so you can read afterwards what a chat was allowed to do.

Usage bars that warn you in time. The session and weekly quota bars at the top of the sidebar now warn before your weekly Claude limit runs out and show whether you are ahead of pace, with a line such as “On pace would be 43% by now”. The limit itself is set by Anthropic for your Claude plan; OrcStrator shows it so you can plan around it.

A Needs you line. When a chat or a chief is waiting on you, a Needs you line says what it is waiting for and offers suggested replies you can click. Answering a routine question no longer means opening the chat and typing.

What works better

  • Settings in plain words. Settings are now three pages. Hover a setting to pick an answer, or ask for it to be explained.
  • The card panel. Opening a card shows a panel at half the screen, with five tabs and a one sentence summary of the card at the top.
  • Chiefs repair broken runs. Chiefs look after your routines. In 2.2.5 they fix a broken run on their own, retry it at the right moment and ask you once per broken thing instead of once per failure. Chiefs are still in Beta.
  • Tidier tiles and project rows. Setup and chiefs moved into the right-click menu, so the chat tiles and project rows carry less.

What was fixed

  • A routine run now closes its own chat when it is done, so the next scheduled run fires on time.
  • Switching Claude accounts no longer spends usage refreshing chats that were sitting idle.
  • Chiefs can only read and change files inside their own project.
  • Long Needs you reasons wrap instead of being cut off.

Who will notice

If you run routines, the first fix matters most: a run that left its chat open could hold up the next one. If you switch between Claude accounts you hold yourself, idle chats no longer eat into the account you switch to. And if you have never made a backup, Settings now has the button for it.

The app shows these notes in the What’s new bell the first time it opens on 2.2.5. Every earlier production release is on the OrcStrator news page.
